Restorative Practices

The Scranton School District has begun Restorative Practice training within our schools. Restorative Practices is a methodology that that gives students who face disciplinary consequences the opportunity to right their wrongs and learn from their mistakes. The purpose of Restorative Practices is not to bypass or eliminate consequences. Students will take accountability for their behavior, repair any harm done, and learn new strategies with the goal of decreasing recidivism.

John F. Kennedy Elementary, McNichols Plaza Elementary, William Prescott Elementary, and West Scranton High have all implemented restorative Practices within their building. These are the first schools within the district to do so as we look to implement the methodology District-wide.
