The Scranton School District will be implementing an Enrichment and Review continuity of education plan. Enrichment and Review consists of informal activities that reinforce or extend students prior learning. It is important for students to have the opportunity to maintain and develop skills while away from their traditional school setting. No new instruction will be introduced through this model. These activities will reinforce and allow students to practice skills but are not mandatory for students to complete. These activities will not be counted toward credit or official academic performance.
Prior to the last day of school, students were sent home with their own log-in information to access Clever and Google Classroom. Students in grades 6 through 12 were also provided with information to access material through APEX Learning. Clever is the platform where many apps are located, including Google classroom and APEX. Teachers will engage students using various resources and activities. There will be no formal grades during enrichment and review. No child will be penalized for not completing work and we will not take formal daily attendance. We are asking students to voluntarily participate in these activities starting on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.
As we continue to plan for this new adventure, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our entire school community. The patience and cooperation that everyone has demonstrated during this difficult time has been inspiring. Our school district’s students and staff thrive when things get tough! The number one priority will always be the health, safety, and welfare of our students. I am impressed by the resilience of our students, families, and staff and I’m deeply grateful to be the Superintendent in this district.
Thank you for your commitment to this district.
