Dear Parents, All of our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will be participating in the Pennsylvania System of School Assessments (PSSA) April 1 - 11, 2008. The Mathematics and Reading assessments are designed to provide information about the quality of Pennsylvania schools to parents, school districts, and the general public. Students will be given plenty of time to complete their tests. Attendance is extremely important. Testing will begin early in the morning. A good night of sleep, a nourishing breakfast, and ariving on time to school will assure your child of a smooth start to his/her day. Results of the tests will be sent to the school districts for distribution to parents, teachers, and building administrators near the end of the school year. School Districts will publish the results of each grade level asssessment for each school in the district. In closing, I am proud to report that our recent test results have exceeded the state averages and they have been among the highest scores within the Scranton School District. I attribute this success to our outstanding faculty and staff who are working diligently to stay abreast of changes in the PSSA format to best meet the needs of our children. Thank you for your continued support, as a strong home and school connection is vital to student success. |
