WELCOME TO JOHN J. AUDUBON #42 SCHOOL

John J. Audubon Elementary School #42 is located at 1801 Mulberry Street in East Scranton.  CMC hospital and Nay Aug Park are its neighbors.

Audubon was born in Haiti and sent to America to operate a family estate at Mill Grove near Philadelphia when he was 18 years old.  Here he was able to draw the life sized portraits of the birds he studied while adding realistic descriptions of wilderness life.

To this day the students celebrate the life of John J. Audubon in December when they make edible ornaments for the birds while learning about his life and works.  Students parade to Nay Aug Park and decorate the Audubon Christmas tree with their ornaments continuing a tradition tha is almost 100 years old.

John J. Audubon Elementary School #42 was built in 1910 with an addition completed in 1964.  We currently educated approximately 300 students in Pre-K through 5th grade.

The vision of Audubon Elementary School is to create a safe and respectful learning environment where students develop the passion to become  lifelong learners.  Through cooperation, a good work ethic, responsibility and respect, Audubon staff, parents, community and students work to create individuals with the skills required to be thoughtful and engaged learners.
