Welcome
Welcome
to the Frances Willard Elementary School website. I am excited and honored to
have the opportunity to be a part of this outstanding public school
community. It is my goal to continue to work with our faculty, staff,
students and parent community to provide a quality education and a caring
environment for all of our students. We work hard to insure that all
children have the opportunity to reach high standards. At Frances
Willard we base all of our decisions on what is best for our children.
It is my goal to provide an educational environment that is challenging
and safe-one where children feel comfortable and respected. I
encourage you to find out more about the outstanding programs and services
offered by the Scranton School District. Please feel free to contact me at
anytime if I can be of assistance: 348-3692 or
jessica.finnerty@scrsd.org.
Jessica Leitzel, Principal
Frances Willard Elementary School
.
Frances Willard has served the West
Scranton Community at its present site since 1928. Our boundaries
consist of Keyser Avenue on the west, the Lackawanna River on the east,
Luzerne Street on the north, to the borough of Taylor on the south.
There are presently 585 students enrolled in our 3 year old preschool
through grade 5. Frances Willard Elementary operates under the premise
of "what is best for all children". Our principles and practices are
committed to meet the academic, physical, social and emotional needs of our
students. Our instruction is child-centered and committed to
developing each child's potential to the maximum.
Curriculum
development is an ongoing process that lends itself to integrate the
content areas of Language Arts, Reading, Science, Social Studies and
Mathematics wherever and however possible. We feel the development
of out students' cognitive processes and basic skills lead to a smooth
transition into an intermediate learning environment.
